La Fonda On The Plaza's Artist-in-Residence Program

For 95 years, La Fonda on the Plaza has had a long-standing passion for the arts, collecting original art that graces our walls. Along with our expansive, wholly owned, art collection, La Fonda is proud to announce our Artist-in-Residence program. Now, you too, can experience a working artist studio every Thursday through Saturday afternoon in the lobby of La Fonda.

November 2nd - 4th, 4pm-7pm

Nocona Burgess is originally from Lawton, Oklahoma, and is the great-great grandson of Chief Quanah Parker. Taking after his father’s love for the arts, he graduated with an Associate in Fine Arts from Institute of American Indian Arts, his Bachelor of Fine Arts, from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and his Masters in Education from the University of New Mexico. As you wander the hallways of La Fonda, you can find many of Nocona's beautiful paintings throughout the hotel. Nocona is internationally represented and continues to produce highly collectable works, most recently winning 1st place for his painting at the Santa Fe SWAIA Indian Market. In addition, he has won numerous awards and displays his work in many galleries and museum collections.
